About Us
Our History
Barriere TIMBER MART has been a cornerstone of the local community since the late 1950s, when it began as a small hardware store under the name Marshall-Wells Hardware. Over the years, it evolved into a full-service building supply center. In 2010, Shawn and Suzie Fadear took ownership, transforming the store into an IRLY Building Centre before constructing a new, modern 9,000 sq. ft. location in 2014, situated on Highway 5. This location continues to provide a wide range of building materials, hardware, and services to local contractors and DIY enthusiasts.
In January 2023, the store entered a new chapter as it was acquired by the Simpcw Resources Group, the economic development arm of Simpcw First Nation. This acquisition reflects a commitment to maintaining strong community ties and ensuring that Barriere Timber Mart continues to be a trusted local business. Simpcw Resources Group plans to honor the traditions established by the Fadears while expanding and enriching the store’s role within the Barriere community.
